“I just don’t have enough time.”
I hear this from every single one of my clients. Smart, driven women building incredible online businesses who swear they need more hours in the day to reach their goals. They wake up already feeling behind, go to bed mentally rehearsing tomorrow’s endless to-do list, and spend their days in a constant state of urgency.
We have too many brilliant women in the Restored 316 community that are stuck in a cycle of starting their quarterly planning strong. But then they lose momentum. Get buried under the mess. And wonder, “Why can’t I keep up?”
This breaks my heart. I don’t want anyone I work with to question their discipline. And I definitely don’t want anyone to question their dream because I’m living proof that when someone stays focused their opportunities are endless.
All my years of helping women succeed has taught me: It’s not you. It’s the chaos around you. And it’s 100% fixable.

The Real Productivity Killers (Backed by Research)
A recent study of 2,000 U.S. small business owners found that entrepreneurs are losing an average of 96 minutes of productivity daily—that’s nearly three weeks of lost time per year.
According to this productivity study, here are the real culprits that steal time:
- 57% lose time to non-work distractions (hello, Instagram scrolling “for research”)
- 47% struggle with procrastination (usually because they don’t know where to start)
- 28% waste time on status updates across multiple tools (sound familiar?)
- 17% lose productivity daily to context switching between apps and platforms
And here’s the part that will make you want to scream: 29% of business owners frequently repeat the same messages across different platforms because they don’t have organized communication systems.
This isn’t about lacking discipline or motivation. It’s about lacking structure!
- Spending 15 minutes searching for that blog post draft you saved “somewhere”
- Starting five different tasks and finishing none because you don’t have clear priorities
- Constantly switching between apps, losing your train of thought each time
- Making decisions on the fly instead of following established processes
Why Disorganization Feels Like Time Scarcity
Disorganization creates a vicious cycle that tricks your brain into thinking you need more hours:
Mental Load Overload: When everything lives in your head instead of in systems, your brain becomes a overcrowded filing cabinet. You spend mental energy remembering, tracking, and managing instead of creating and executing.
Decision Fatigue: Without clear systems, every small task becomes a decision. Should I answer emails first or create Pinterest Pins? Where did I put that file? What was I supposed to do next? These micro-decisions drain your energy faster than the actual work.
The Urgency Illusion: When you’re reactive instead of proactive, everything feels urgent. You’re always putting out fires instead of scaling your income. You end up feeling like you’re running out of time to do the “real” work.
Context Switching Costs: Research shows it takes an average of 23 minutes to fully refocus after switching tasks. The study found that most small business owners juggle four or more digital tools, with nearly a third using five or more. If you’re bouncing between projects, platforms, and priorities without a system, you’re losing hours of productive time daily—and it’s scientifically measurable.
The Real Time Audit
If you feel like your not achieving your goals because you don’t have enough time to focus on your business, then it’s time for an audit.
For one week, track how you actually spend your time—not how you think you spend it. You might be shocked to discover:
- How much time you spend looking for things
- How often you repeat work because you didn’t organize it properly the first time
- How many interruptions could be prevented with better boundaries
- How much mental energy goes to remembering instead of doing
Most likely, the solution isn’t working more hours—it’s working more systematically.
Behind-The-Scenes
It’s hard to believe I’ve been running my own small business for almost two decades. Honestly, it still surprises me sometimes. I’m so grateful for all the women I’ve been able to help along the way—with WordPress Themes, Canva Templates, Branding Tools and Courses.
But here’s the thing: a big part of my success hasn’t come from the front-end stuff you see. It’s come from the behind-the-scenes systems I put in place to keep Restored 316 growing without burning me out.
Let me share a few of my favorites tips:
Capture What Matters
Your brain wasn’t meant to be a filing cabinet. Create simple ways to catch ideas, tasks, and important details before they slip through the cracks. When you stop relying on memory alone, your mind is free to dream bigger and think more strategically.
Know Your Real Priorities
If everything is urgent, nothing truly gets done. Narrow it down—pick your top three business goals and let them guide your yes’s and no’s. You’ll feel lighter and way more focused.
Stop Reinventing the Wheel
Those tasks you do over and over? Write them down. Document your client onboarding, your weekly content routine, even how you wrap up a month. Having repeatable processes means less brainpower spent on the basics—and more on the fun, creative work.
Create a Space That Works for You
Clutter, whether digital or physical, eats your energy. Set up your desk and your desktop so everything has a home. Knowing where things belong means you’ll spend less time searching and more time creating. (I really focus on this in The Organized Blogger Course!)
Protect Your Deep Work Time
Big ideas need breathing room. Block out time for your most important projects, silence the pings, and give yourself permission to go all in. It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you’re not constantly pulled in ten directions.
Let’s Get Organized Together
Here’s what I want you to understand: You don’t need to work more hours to build a successful business. You need to work more intentionally.
You don’t need superhuman time management skills. You need systems that work for your brain and your business.
You don’t need to sacrifice your personal life for professional success. You need to organize your professional life so it doesn’t bleed into everything else.
So, here’s my invitation: let’s put the right systems in place now. Together, we’re going to clean up the backend of your business so you can run each week like the CEO you are.
