WordPress 3.0

As most of you know, WordPress 3.0 was released last week.  I wanted to give it the weekend before posting to make sure there wouldn’t be any problems updating your blogs.  I’ve updated everything on my end, and everything is running smoothly, so you shouldn’t have any issues upgrading your wordpress site.  Just be sure to backup your database before doing so, in case something does go wrong.

If you do upgrade and experience an issue, it is most likely caused by a plugin.  I’d deactivate all your plugins, and then start activating them one by one until you find the culprit.

If you need any help updating your wordpress blog, please shoot me an email!

Remember this blog design? Well after we launched Heather’s new site, she realized she needed to reorganize a few things along with redoing the colors.  She thought she liked our original color palette, but after looking at it for a while, she decided it just wasn’t fitting her and her new blog.  So she came back and we revamped everything a bit.  We moved the social media icons from the sidebar to the header portion to fill in the space up top a bit, and she also needed some extra space for her navigation bar, and wanted a background on it to make it pop a bit.  Heather LOVES all the changes we made now!  Yay!

Every once in a while, this will happen!  Clients have their ideas on their colors, or placement, but after seeing it in action or working with it for a while, they realize it actually isn’t what they needed or wanted.  I’m always here for those things!  If you ever have some modifications you need taken care of, just contact me and let me know!

Blog Launch: Sara’s Party Perfect

Just launched a new blog design for Sara of Sara’s Party Perfect Blog! Sara has a fantastic sense of style, as you can tell with all the lovely things she posts on her blog!  She sent me a mockup of the design she had in mind and how she wanted it to function, and I basically brought the entire vision to life.  I love doing that!

Sara’s got some cool functionality going on here… When you click on the tabs at the top, the background changes with that category.  When she does posts that only fall in 1 tab, you won’t see them in any of the other tabs.  Very cool feature and this will help Sara stay organized and help her readers find exactly what they are looking for!

I was browsing colourlovers today and realized I hadn’t shared any color schemes here in a while, so I thought I’d show some of the ones that grabbed my attention today! Enjoy!

Website Launch: Bitty Buttons

Just launched a new custom website for Susan of Bitty Buttons!  Susan had a website that was completely nonfunctional and she wasn’t able to edit or sell any of her amazing products, so I created a fun website for her to be able to add her own products, and edit everything on her own site!  She wanted the background to be dark with damask with the use of bright colors throughout to show off the bright colors in her products.  I did a custom home page design to differ from her inner pages where you can shop all her categories and subcategories.  I also did a custom logo design for this website as well.

Blog Launch: Modern Mama

Connie from Modern Mama already had her own branding and business cards but needed a site to better showcase her events and match her branding a bit more than what she had.  We built her a blogsite that would function like a site, but she could update like a blog.  I built a custom archives file for her to insert her events easily and the viewers could easily see the date, price, name, and all the important information for each event up front.  I love the bright fun colors we used also from her existing branding!

Blog Launch: Adventures of a Gluten Free Mom

Just launched a new wordpress blog yesterday for Heidi from Adventures of a Gluten Free Mom. She’d picked out this graphic from istock and wanted her hair edited and her design to coorilate with it. I had so much fun working on this blog, as I do with all my designs, and am so happy that Heidi loves her new blog.

Blogsite Launch: Susie Davis

Yesterday, I launched a new site for Susie Davis.  Susie is a radio show host on one of our local Christian radio stations and was so fun to work with!  Her and her husband founded ACF 17 years ago, and about 4 years ago, my husband and I attended a service with some friends of ours.  That day, Susie Davis was speaking on God Sized Dreams, and that one message has played a huge role in my life.  And here I am 4 years later working with this very woman who played a role in changing my life in so many ways.  The Lord has done some truly Amazing things in my life over the last 3 years, and I’m now working with a lot of people who have been such a huge inspiration to me and things are coming full circle.  I’m quite speechless.

I’ve got some other projects in the works that will hopefully be revealed very soon and I can’t wait to share them here with you all!

Susie’s new blog was built on the new Genesis framework by Studiopress (amazing framework, and I’ll be doing lots more blogs with it!) and is on WordPress.  Go check out her new site!

Blog Launch: Mckmama

So if you follow me on twitter, you’ll know that we launched the new Mckmama blog yesterday and went for a very bumpy ride.  Whew!  Completely unexpected!  We thought the hosting plan we chose would be enough to cover her traffic but we were delightfully surprised that it wasn’t going to cut it.  Not even for a second without crashing.  I guess that’s a good problem to have right?  So I spent the whole day getting her migrated from one server to a Dedicated Server just for her site and then back to launch again.  Certainly a wild and crazy ride, but absolutely worth the wait in my opinion.  We’ve been working behind the scenes for months on her new do and moving her Blogger blog over to WordPress.

What do you think of the new look?!

ETA:  At the time of this post, some people are still unable to see the site and this is perfectly normal.  The switch is still taking place and it’s changing over quick for some and not for others.
