The difference between the Soliloquy and Genesis Responsive Slider
Our themes nearly all come with the capability of using one of two slider type plugins to display content, but most people don’t understand the difference between the two plugins.
Soliloquy Slider
The Soliloquy Lite plugin allows you to manually upload your own images and link them to wherever you’d like. This plugin is typically used for a slider to display featured products or categories so the website owner can be specific on the images shown and where those images link. Here is our video tutorial on how to set up the Soliloquy plugin.
Genesis Responsive Slider
The Genesis Responsive Slider is a plugin used to showcase your latest blog posts or featured pages. It will only pull the featured image from your blog posts or your pages, depending on how you have the settings set. I have an entire post written on how to set up the Genesis Responsive Slider so that you can have a better understanding of what can be set here.
That’s it!
It’s as easy as that! To put it simply, you’ll go with Soliloquy for more control and the Genesis Responsive slider to feature your latest blog posts!

I have the bloom theme and I was wondering is there a way to change the slider to one stagnant image? Or would I need to get into the CSS file to do that? I like the slider, but I think it slows my load time so that’s why I’m wondering.
Hi Jenn! If you’re using the Soliloquy Slider, you can just choose to have one image in the slider, rather than multiple images. OR you could just simply use the text widget to place an image code there. 🙂
