Overcomer – Brittany Williams

What do you do?
I am a mother of three amazing little guys and I blog full time over at instantloss.com where I spread my passion for wellness through nutrition. I lost 125 pounds through diet change alone. I’m now an advocate and motivator for the whole foods movement.
Growing up, did you always dream that you would be doing what you’re doing now?
I did not! Growing up I wanted to be a singer. I never in my wildest dreams would have imagined that I’d be using my voice in this way instead.
What made you decide to “go for it” in terms of your career goals/ambitions?
After a Facebook post of mine went viral on social media a friend of mine encouraged me to start a blog. I had no idea what I was doing but stepped out in faith, it was one of the best things I’ve ever done.
Did you face adversity? How did you overcome that?
Starting out the biggest adversity I faced was myself. It was scary to pour our savings into something that may or may not have ever seen a return. That’s where the faith part came in, I was my biggest obstacle.
A lot of women have these big goals & big ideas that they’d like to bring to life, what advice would you give them in terms of how they can make that happen?
Donald Miller, in Blue Like Jazz says, “Sometimes you have to watch somebody love something before you can love it yourself. It is as if they are showing you the way.”
There is no one else like you in the world. Be your authentic self. It will translate in whatever passions your pursing. Show others the way.
What’s the biggest regret you have when it comes to your blog/shop/business?
My biggest regret is not bringing in help sooner. My business started to explode before I knew what was happening and I feel like I waited a bit longer than I should have to bring in outside help.
What’s been your proudest moment so far? And, just because we like our coffee around here, how do you take yours?
Getting a cookbook deal with Harmony, a subsidiary publisher of Random House 8 months after I started my business. One of the highlights of my life.
And, just because we like our coffee around here, how do you take yours?
I don’t drink coffee if you can believe it! 🙂 I’m a lemon water kind of gal in the morning. All that citrus gets my motor revving.
I believe in the story of the overcomer. That has been my story and I believe that is your story too. We want your journey here on the blog to help encourage others just like you and me. If you’d like to share that with us, please come over and share your story with us!
