Twitter Tools is another great social media plugin for wordpress. This one is for you, the blogger, whereas the previous 2 that I’ve covered are for your readers.

This plugin allows for you to select the option from your dashboard, when creating a posts, to notify twitter that you’ve posted a new blog post. The second you hit publish on your posts, it hits twitter. So if you use twitter to bring traffic to your blog , which let’s face it… most people do, then you’ll want to let your followers know when you’ve put up a new blog post.

With the huge popularity of social media these days, most bloggers want a way for readers to be able to easily share their posts on outlets such as twitter and facebook. With that said, there are tons of social media plugins that are great for your wordpress blog.

Sexybookmarks is one of them (and I’ll be sharing a few more). While I’m not really a fan of lots of plugins going on in a blog, this one is very sleek and not very obtrusive to your blog or design. It’s extremely easy to configure with a settings page directly in your wordpress dashboard after activating the plugin. Depending on your wordpress theme, you may have to manually configure this to appear on all posts of your blog which would mean getting into the coding. If you aren’t comfortable doing that, I’m always here to help.

As I’ve mentioned before, one of the main reasons for switching to wordpress is the vast amount of plugins available. They are limitless and there are so many. But which ones do you use? CommentLuv is one I really like. Everyone loves comments on their blog, right? Well why not encourage your readers to leave a comment on your blog, so that a link to their most recent post will show up, and perhaps your comments will go show them some CommentLuv.

When you have this plugin installed, people who leave a comment on your blog, will automatically get a link to their most recent posts. They don’t have to do anything, and neither do you, for this to appear. Outside of installing the plugin of course. Easy peasy!

Don’t know how you install plugins? That’s really easy to! Here’s how:

Login to your wordpress dashboard.
Find the plugin that you’d like to use from the WordPress Plugins directory.
Download the file using the orange download button.
In your WP dashboard, click the arrow next to Plugins.
Click add new.
Then upload.
Upload the zipped file directly to your site.
Once installed, click Plugins.
Find the plugin you just installed and hit Activate.
Thats it.

Depending on the plugin, you may have some configuration to do, but you’ll just follow the steps on the installation page. You also want to only install 1 plugin at a time, just in case a plugin interferes with your wordpress theme. If this were to happen, simply deactivate the plugin causing issue.

If there is ever any trouble with this, I’m here to help install plugins. Just contact me for pricing details.

One of the things I mentioned a few posts down about wordpress, is the plugins. O my. The plugins. There are soo soo many, and I plan to write about the ones I come across that I love the most.

WPTOUCH is my first fantastic plugin.

With millions and millions of iphones out there, many people, including myself, like to catch up on their blog reading through the phone itself. Now you can format your WordPress to be on the iphone just like an application with a simple plugin.

WPTOUCH is so simple to install and configure. You simply install the plugin and edit the preferences for how you’d like your blog to appear on the iphone. Thats it. Your done. No messing with coding or anything of that nature.

If you’d like this installed, but aren’t familiar with installing and setting up plugins, you can contact me for a quote.

Otherwise, you can find this plugin here.

Enjoy!
